Alaska Snowflake Photos - Winter 2006-2007
We have had plenty of snow this winter but most of the crystals were covered with rime. The temperatures were just too warm. Today, however, a cold storm blew into the Anchorage area ( Jan. 3, 2007) and we are receiving a good covering of attractive crystals. Time to get some photos! We actually broke a record for a single day snowfall in January. Lots of snow around. I'd guess a good solid foot fell here in the Muldoon area. Upper hillside received 22 plus inches. As of 11:30 pm, it has finally stopped snowing, but we still have snow showers in the forecast with a dropping temperatures trend forecasted. I still might get some snow crystal plate photos, but the dendrites that have fallen in the area today have been spectacular.
